Meet the Teacher Night

Meet the Teacher night is always one of my FAVORITE days of the year. I love seeing the looks of my kiddos' faces go from nervous to relieved or from scared to excited. I love watching them explore the classroom and get excited when they discover they may share a class with a friend. All of the hard work and prep is always worth it!

How do you guys do Meet the Teacher night? What do you try to accomplish that night? At my school, we call our students a week before school starts to invite them to Meet the Teacher happening that same week. So, our MTT is actually before school starts. I love meeting families before school begins, and I really think it helps break the ice.

I've used the same forms and processes every year, each year adding or taking away some piece of the process. I think I finally have come up with a comprehensive list of everything I use on MTT to welcome families, get the information I need, give the information I need, and get to know my kiddos a little bit better as learners and as people.

Because I've reached the point of EMBRACING my #colorfulclassroom, I decided to colorfully coordinate all of my paperwork and forms that I use and put it all in one bundle in my TPT store!

I am lucky enough to have the insta-ink, so I'm definitely printing in color this year! But, if you want to use colored copy paper, I also have a black and white version in the same bundle.

stuff, stuff, stuff

Welcome to my first blog post. You'll be happy to know that all of my blog posts will be relatively short and sweet. Am I the only teacher that gets reading fatigue? Maybe my attention span has diminished? I don't know. Here we go. :)

Is there anyone out there that can relate to this?

I have too much stuff in my classroom! I would love to have my things match and coordinate and look nice, but I have a hard time letting go of the perfectly usable things that I already have-- not to mention the knick knacks that students/families have given me.

This week, I walked into my classroom for the first time all summer and was immediately overwhelmed. Of course, I had stuff everywhere and nothing was in its place, so it looked especially horrible. But even still, I just wanted to make everything disappear!

I think it's because I follow lots of amazing teachers on Instagram and I am part of so many FB teacher groups, so I see all of this adorable stuff being purchased. As much as I want to be a part of the posting of my latest hauls from Target Dollar Spot, I can't help but feel overwhelmed by buying more stuff-- even if it's way cuter! I actually would LOVE to change my color scheme-- I even made something for my TPT store to go with it. I just feel like I can't use it until I get rid of so much of what I have!

My question to you: How do you finally let go of things that don't go with your newest color scheme?
